A thermostat housing acts as a cooling outlet in Minis. It is located in the engine between the radiator and the engine. It is a small piece of equipment that covers the thermostat. It also has an opening that is used by a radiator hose to let water into and out of the vehicle.
What is the difference between thermostat and housing?
The thermostat housing and the thermostat itself are two different components and do not necessarily need to be replaced together or at the same time. The housing is just a piece that covers the thermostat that also has an opening for a radiator hose which is where the water enters and exits the motor.
What is the function of the thermostat housing in a car?
The primary function of a thermostat is to maintain a minimum operating temperature in the car's engine. When the engine is started, the antifreeze and coolant mixture is kept within the engine by the thermostat. It opens upon reaching a specified temperature.
